Raees Box Office Collection Day 1

Shah Rukh Khan had promised fans, "Aa raha hoon main," and he has indeed arrived with a bang.

Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan-starrer Raees, which was initially slated for an Eid 2016 release, hit screens amid much fanfare on January 25, and King Khan is back with a bang. As per early estimates, Raees has broken the 'january jinx' which plagued Bollywood and raked in between Rs 18-20 crore at the box office.
MOVIE REVIEW: RAEES
Raees clashed with Hrithik Roshan-starrer Kaabil at the box office, and SRK's gangster film has surpassed the collections of Hrithik's by a huge margin. Raees opened to 2800 screens as opposed to 2400 screens allotted to Kaabil, and the former witnessed around 40% more occupancy.
Shah Rukh Khan plays Gujarati bootlegger Raees Alam in the film, with Pakistani actor Mahira Khan playing his love interest. Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the cop hell-bent on putting a stop to SRK's criminal activities.
Raees opened to largely positive reviews, and with the Republic Day weekend being a crucial one, the film's collections are expected to pick up.
